T Coronae Borealis

T Coronae Borealis ( T CrB short ) is an approximately 2,000 light- years distant recurrent (recurrent ) nova in the constellation of the Northern Crown. T Coronae Borealis is normally 10.8 likes bright, but reached in the last two eruptions in 1866 and 1946 2.0 mag.

It is a so-called symbiotic star, ie a binary star system, in which encircle an extended red giant and a compact white dwarf in a relatively close distance. The matter from the gaseous envelope of the red giant flows over on the white dwarf. If a critical mass is reached, put a fusion processes that can be observed as explosive outbursts.

The letter " T" before the name identified by the naming conventions of variable stars this star as the third, which was discovered in the constellation of the Northern Crown.
