Tab Two

Tab Two was a band founded in Ulm, which consisted of Hellmut Hattler (bass guitar) and Joo Kraus ( trumpet). The tab in the band's name stands for " Trumpet and Bass". Further, the name is a tongue in cheek throwback to the Fab Four dar. Tab Two combined primarily Acid Jazz with Hip- Hop, Trip Hop, Drum and Bass and other styles; the result is sometimes referred to as hip jazz.

The duo was from 1987 to 1999 and was regarded as the most successful duo of the German jazz. Tab Two celebrated international success with the songs No Flagman Ahead (1995) and Belle Affaire (1996) and appeared at the Montreux Jazz Festival as well as on at the Roskilde Festival. Due to personal differences between Kraus and Hattler, the duo broke up around the turn of the millennium. Since 2011, the two musicians worked together on the best-of album Two Thumbs Up, which was released in April 2012. To celebrate the release Kraus and Hattler were also together again for a number of concerts from April to August 2012, on the stage. A proper reunion it is but according to the musicians do not give.
