Tachikawa Ki-17
The Tachikawa Ki -17 ( Allied code name " Cedar " ) was a Japanese trainer aircraft for beginners in biplane design. A motorized version of the originally weaker Ki -9 was provided for this purpose. However, since these Ki- 9 release was inappropriate, it was decided instead to develop a new aircraft - the Ki- 17th
In contrast to the Ki -9, wherein the lower wing shorter than the upper failed, the upper and lower bearing surfaces of the Ki -17 had the same span. In addition, the fuselage was more streamlined and redesigned the tail. The K -17 first flew in July 1935.
Between 1936 and 1943, 658 Ki -17 were built. The Ki -17 was used for training of pilots at the Imperial Japanese Army.
