Tadayoshi Ichida

Tadayoshi Ichida (Japanese市 田 忠义, Ichida Tadayoshi; born December 28, 1942 in Osaka Prefecture ) is a Japanese politician, Member of the Sangiin, the upper house of the Japanese Diet, and General Secretary of the Communist Party (JCP ).

Ichida, a graduate of the Faculty of Law, Ritsumeikan University, in 1963 JCP Member since his student days. Since 1971 he was a full-time employee of the party. In 1988 he took over the chairmanship of the CPY in the Kyoto Prefecture, in 1994 he became a member of the Permanent Executive Committee ( Jonin kambukai ) of the Central Committee ( CC).

When Sangiin - election in 1998 Ichida was elected on the list position 2 of the CPY for country-wide proportional representation into Sangiin and confirmed by the introduction of the preferential vote in 2004 and 2010 with the highest share of the vote of all JCP candidates in office. In an otherwise rare involvement of the CPY in the parliamentary work by the other opposition parties Ichida received after his first election to chair the Environment Committee of Sangiin, he held the position until 2003. In the party he took over in 1999 the management of the campaign offices ( senkyotaisakukyoku ), 2000 he succeeded Kazuo Shii as Head of the Secretariat ( shokikyoku -chō ) of the Central Committee. After the 2010 election, he took over from the ousted Akira Koike also the chair of the KPJ Group in Sangiin.
