Tadeusz PÅ‚oski

Tadeusz Stefan Ploski ( born March 9, 1956 in Lidzbark Warmiński ( Heilenberg ), Warmia - Masuria, Poland, † 10 April 2010 Smolensk, Russia) was a Roman Catholic Military Bishop of the Polish armed forces.

Life

Tadeusz Ploski left in 1976 the seminary " Hosianum " in Warmia at. After his theological training he received on June 6, 1982, ordained priest by Bishop Jan Oblak and studied from 1983 to 1986 canon law at the Catholic University of Lublin. In 1993 he was at the Catholic Academy of Cardinal Stefan Wyszynski University in Warsaw, with a thesis on the bishops of the Diocese of Warmia in 1957 to 1971 Dr. iur. can. doctorate. At the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Torun, he habilitated with a work on the pastoral care in the Polish army. In 1994 he completed his postdoctoral studies at the Polish Military Academy "Academy Obrony Narodowej " and was then an assistant professor at the Law Faculty of the University of Warmia and Mazury.

Pope John Paul II appointed him on 16 October 2004 Military Bishop of the Polish armed forces. He received his episcopal consecration on 30 October 2004, the Apostolic Nuncio in Poland, Archbishop Jozef Kowalczyk; Co-consecrators were his predecessor, Archbishop Leszek Sławoj Głódź, and Edmund Piszcz, Archbishop of Warmia. In 2008 he was appointed full professor at the University of Warmia and Mazury and took over the management of the Department of Administrative Law and Administrative Sciences at the Faculty of Law and Administration.

Ploski was a member of the Polish armed forces since 1992. 2006 he was promoted to Major General of the Polish Armed Forces.

On April 10, 2010 Ploski belonged to a Polish delegation headed by President Lech Kaczyński, who was to travel on the occasion of the seventieth anniversary of the Katyn massacre to the memorial to Russia. However, in a plane crash of the delegation near the military airfield Smolensk - North he came together with other high-ranking representatives of Poland died.

In addition to numerous honors Ploski in 2008 with the Order of Polonia Restituta, the second highest award of the Polish Republic, honored. Posthumously Ploski was awarded on 16 April 2010 the Commander's Cross of the Order of Polonia Restituta ( Krzyż Komandorski Orderu Odrodzenia Polski ).
