Taenia crassiceps

Larvae of Taenia crassiceps

Taenia crassiceps is a member of the Real tapeworms. Definitive hosts are foxes and coyotes, dogs rarely and very rarely cats.

As intermediate hosts are rodents and lagomorphs. The fin stage ( Cysticercus longicollis ) reproduces asexually in the internal organs of the intermediate host by external budding. Cysticercus longicollis can also occur in immunocompromised people. Also in cats Finn stages were observed in the brain with central nervous symptoms.
