Tafelmusik Baroque Orchestra

The Tafelmusik Baroque Orchestra is a well-known Canadian ensemble of historical performance practice.

Tafelmusik was founded in 1979. Under the direction of Jeanne Lamon Tafelmusik since 1981 has found during his frequent concert tours and recordings by his international recognition.

Tafelmusik is an average of ten weeks of the year on tour in Canada, the U.S., Europe and Asia. The orchestra performs regularly in the major concert halls of Europe, including the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, the Musikverein in Vienna and at the Barbican Centre in London. From 1993 to 2011 traveled Tafelmusik annually at the Festival Sound & Space in the Swabian Irsee Monastery, where it was heard as Festival Orchestra conducted by Bruno Weil.

The Tafelmusik Orchestra has its headquarters in Toronto and consists of 18 permanent members, which are occasionally supplemented by other musicians. All members of the orchestra are specialists in historical performance practice and play on original instruments or modern replicas that are very closely matched the originals in form and construction.
