Tai Situpa

Tai Situpa ( Tib: Ta'i si tu pa also: Situ Rinpoche and Tai Situ; Chinese Situ Ningboche ) is the name of an important Trülku line of the Karma Kagyu school of Tibetan Buddhism. The Tai Situpas apply in this school traditionally as an emanation of the Bodhisattva Maitreya, who is regarded in Buddhism as the Buddha of the future and big coming World Teacher.

History

With Marpa, whose incarnation is Tai Situ, Kagyu comes from India to Tibet. Therefore one speaks in Tibetan texts by Marpa Kagyu. The incarnation lineage of Tai Situpas is closely connected with the Gyelwa Karmapa, which are the respective highest lamas of the Karma Kagyu. How Shamarpas and Tshurphu Gyeltshab Rinpoche also carry the Tai Situpas a red hat, and a red Vajra Crown as a sign of their dignity and as a symbol of the inseparability of the mind of the Karmapa and Tai Situpas. The first Tai Situpa was a student of the 5th Karmapa Deshin Shegpa, who appointed him as abbot of Karma Guen. He received the title of Kenting Naya Tang Nyontse Geshetse Tai Situpa, in short, Kuang Ting Tai Situ (also: Khentin Tai Situ; pinyin: Guangding Dai situ ;广 定 大 司徒) by the Chinese emperor of the Ming Dynasty Yung Lo. Especially the 8th Tai Situpa Chokyi Chungne was known for its high scholarship, he wrote in the 18th century, among other things a comprehensive commentary on the Grammar of the Tibetan Language ( mKhas pa'i mgul rgyan ), which is still studied today. 1717 founded the 8th Tai Situpa the monastery Palpung ( Tib: dpal spung dgon pa) in Derge, Kham. The 9th Tai Situpa was one of the root teacher of Kongtrul Lodro Thaye, the Khyentse Rinpoche Wangpo and Chogling Rinpoche, as well as co-founder of the Rime movement. The 11th Tai Situpa established in the mid -twentieth century, Institute of Buddhist Studies in Palpung text. The 12th Tai Situpa Pema Dönyö Nyinche, as well as the 12th Tshurphu Gyeltshab Rinpoche enthroned Ugyen Thrinle Dorje as the 17th Karmapa Gyelwa.
