Takekuni Hirayoshi

Takekuni Hirayoshi (Japanese平 吉 毅 州, Hirayoshi Takekuni; * July 10, 1936 in Kobe, Hyogo Prefecture, † 28 May 1998) was a Japanese composer of classical music.

1961 acquired Hirayoshi his degree in composition at the National University of Fine Arts and Music Tokyo ( Geidai ), 1967, he joined the graduate course from there. Among his teachers were Hasegawa Yoshio and Ikuma (?) (伊 熊 良 穂). In 1969 he won the Odaka Music Prize (尾 高 赏). After that he was only a lecturer at the Geidai, then professor at the Toho Conservatory and later at the Art School of Okinawa Prefecture ( Okinawa Kenritsu Geijutsu Daigaku ). He became known primarily for his choral pieces.

He was married and had a son and a daughter.
