Talikota ( Kannada: ತಾಳೀಕೋಟೆ Tāḷikōṭe [TA ː ː ɭiko ʈe ]; well Talikot, Talikote or Talikoti ) is a city in the Indian state of Karnataka with around 26,000 inhabitants ( 2001 census).

Talikota is located in northern Karnataka about 80 kilometers southeast of the city of Bijapur on the banks of the river Doni. The city is part of the taluk ( sub-district ) Muddebihal the district Bijapur.

Known the place is due to the Battle of Talikota, in the combined Deccan sultanates beat crushing in 1565, the Vijayanagar Empire. The battle took place on the banks of Krishna River takes about 50 kilometers to the south, but was named after Talikota because the troops of the Deccan sultanates moved from this location in the battle.
