Talinolol a mixture of two isomeric chemical compounds from the group of urea derivatives, which act as beta blockers and medically as antihypertensive drugs ( antihypertensive ) is used.

Clinical information

Mode of action

Talinolol acts as an antagonist to the β1 -adrenoceptors.

Indications

The substance is effective in the treatment of hypertension.

Side effects

The side effects include:

  • Central nervous system disorders such as fatigue, dizziness, sweating, headache and insomnia
  • Bradycardia
  • Gastrointestinal symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, constipation or diarrhea
  • Vasodilatation of the extremities ( effect of β2 - receptors)
  • Increase in airway resistance ( effect of β2 - receptors)

Contraindications

Contraindications are:

  • Bradycardia
  • Sick sinus syndrome
  • Severe arterial hypotension
  • Diabetes mellitus
  • Prinzmetal's angina
  • Severe heart failure
  • Impending birth
