Talk.origins

Talk.origins (also talk.origins or short tons) is a moderated, English discussion group on Usenet, which deals with the origin of life and evolution. The talkgroup and that emerged from Web archive represent a central platform and collection of arguments on the controversy between creationism and object, arguments from scientific news groups as sci.bio.evolution popular science present.

History

The newsgroup was started on September 5, 1986 by Mark Horton.

A moderation of the newsgroup was introduced after asking the user about what is currently (2009) is the responsibility of David Iain Greig and representative Jim Lippard. In addition to some humorous aspects talk.origins includes sound counter-arguments against creationist arguments. The associated archive was recommended in August 2002 by Scientific American, due to its deep -added argumentation and bibliography developed in favor of the theory of evolution, further recommendations were, among others, of the Smithsonian Institution, the Leakey Foundation, and pronounced the American National Center for Science Education.
