Tallán

Tallán (or Tacllán ) was the first ethnic culture that settled in the north-western coastal plains of Peru, a nation with a matriarchal social system.

The Tallanes were drawn from the high mountains of the Sierra in the lowlands and mostly lived in so-called behetrias, simple settlements without leader or political organization.

The site Narihualá 17 km south of the provincial capital of Piura is now regarded as the capital of the Tallán - people, an important architectural testimony of the time, both for its size and for its two stepwise arranged pyramids that were built in honor of the god Walac.

Later, the Mochica and Chimu which had invaded the region inhabited by the Tacllán.

Tacllán in northwestern Peru is now the name for an agricultural machine with footboard.
