Tamás Fejér

Tamás Fejér ( born December 29, 1920 in Pecs, Hungary; † 4 September 2006) was a Hungarian film director.

Life

Fejér was born without the appropriate training for the film. He acquired basic knowledge itself and turned in the late 1930s, some amateur short films. In 1943 he published a book on film theory.

Fejér was involved since 1945 in various productions for cinema and television, worked until 1955 as an assistant director and finally took over from that time the Director in the short and long films. He was at directorial debut in 1959 with The dog Bogáncs and devoted himself increasingly in the years that followed the children 's and youth film. In 1962 he was sent to the reorganization of the Hungarian film industry, director of the Hungarian Film Studios II

His film Serious Games from 1980 worked as a co-production between Hungary and the GDR, his only work that was produced not only in their own country. In addition to film work Fejér also worked as a lecturer at the University of Drama and Film in Budapest.

Awards

For In villas area Fejér was nominated in 1963 at the International Film Festival in Cannes for the Palme d'Or. On the Hungarian Film Week Fejér received the award for his life's work in 2000.
