Tamora Pierce

Tamora Pierce ( born December 13, 1954 in Connellsville, Pennsylvania) is an American writer.

Tamora Pierce was supposed to Tamara hot, but a sister of the hospital wrote after her birth a false name on. She has two younger sisters named Kimberly and Melanie. At the age of ten years, Pierce and her family moved to the vicinity of San Francisco, in 1969 with her mother and sisters back to Fayette County, Pennsylvania. After high school, Pierce studied psychology at the University of Pennsylvania.

Tamora Pierce began writing at the age of eleven years. Almost all novels published by it are fantasy Youth books. Her work is heavily influenced by The Lord of the Rings by JRR Tolkien. To date she has written 20 novels and published three short stories. The German translations published by Arena.

In the late 1970s, early 1980s, she wrote a 732 page novel under the title Song of the Lioness. The work was published in four parts because the publisher the manuscript on the grounds rejected, no child would read such thick books. In 1983 the first volume of the series in English. Later, her novels were again extensive. In an afterword to Trickster 's Queen, she writes that she could grasp the extent of four books in two now that JK Rowling had taught the Americans with their Harry Potter novels to read even more extensive works.

Pierce now lives together with Tim Love, four cats and two budgies in Manhattan.

For their great achievements in youth literature, she received the 2013 Margaret A. Edwards Award from the American Library Association.

Audiobooks

Tamora Pierce's books, many of were also produced when English audio book versions, so far there is only a German audiobook series.

English

The book series The Song of the Lioness, The Protector of the Small, Daughter of the Lioness and The Provost 's Dog were all produced by Listening Library unabridged as audiobooks. Read were the audiobooks from Trini Alvarado ( Alanna and Aly- books), Bernadette Dunne ( Kel- books) and Susan Denaker ( Beka Books ).

The number of Dhana, The Immortals, was also produced in full by Full Cast Audio, but almost resembling a radio play with multiple speakers. Nevertheless, the narrative texts have been retained.

Many of the Emelan books were made into audio books. Here so far only Full Cast Audio was working. As The Immortals were produced as audio books, with several speakers The Circle of Magic, The Will of the Empress and Melting Stones. Melting Stones (23 October 2007) even has the particularity that it was originally written for the audiobook version and the speaker therefore particularly well suited to their roles. From The Circle Opens quartet has so far been only a band, namely Street Magic as an audio book - also from Full Cast Audio - implemented. Magic Steps, the first volume of the series is currently in planning, release date is not yet known.

German

So far, only the book series by Alanna was produced as a German audiobook. The publisher has Audiolino thereby released all four volumes as four CDs, the template was correspondingly reduced.
