The Tangarakau River is a wild river on the North Island of New Zealand. It rises near Whangamomona and flows through a sparsely populated valley. It flows into the middle reaches of the Whanganui. The New Zealand State Highway 43 or " Forgotten World Highway" runs partly along the river valley.
