Tank (unit)

Tank was a unit of weight for precious stones, gold, silver ( in Surat ) and a Pearl Weight in British Bombay Presidency and Madras. As bead weight, it was not used for pricing. Here we took the measure Chouw / Chow as standard gauge and 330 Chouws / Chows were designated nominal tank. Small differences in the two presidencies were the various dimensions. The approach for the prices of beads was calculated from the square of the number of tanks 330 times The total was then divided by the number of beads to give the number of Chouws.
