Tankeng Dam

The Tankeng Dam stands at Xiao Xi (Chinese for " Bach" ), a tributary of the Ou Jiang, [note 1] in the circle of Chinese Qingtian Zhejiang Province. It is located 24 km west of the capital and seat of county government. The shut-off is a 162 m high CFR Dam, the reservoir includes 4.19 billion cubic meters.

The main purpose of the plant is hydroelectric power production, but it also serves the flood protection, irrigation and tourism. The hydropower plant has 3 Francis turbines and generators of 200 MW with a total capacity of 600 MW. The dam was planned in the early 1980s and began in 2003 with the construction. In April 2008, the impounding and began on 15 August 2008 was the first generator in operation, the second on 12 January 2009 and the third on 10 July 2009.
