Tanzwoche
The International Dance Week Dresden was founded in Dresden in 1991 by Julius Skowronek and directed artistically and organizationally since. Since 1994, the Dance Week is supported by the " dance stage eV ". The annual festival in April was impetus for networking and international co-production projects. It presents the latest developments in the fields of contemporary dance, dance theater and performance ( art) and offers workshops and discussions artistic exchange. Each with over 30 events in venues such as project theater, cultural center barn, Festspielhaus Hellerau Theater Junge Generation, Dresden State Theatre, Saxon State Opera Dresden and unusual places it reaches annually over 3000 visitor or subscriber. Under the artistic direction of Julius Skowronek the Dance Week Dresden has developed into the most important festival and showcase for Saxon art of dance and interface between artistic young, avant-garde and established high culture. In addition to guest performances by ensembles of international renown, the " Dance Week " has taken on national significance through co-productions with the ensemble Heike Hennig of. So time was - dancing since 1927 by the New Zealand director Trevor Peters as a dance with time for ZDF, ARTE filmed and brought by the Ventura movie in theaters in 2008. With the regularly held closing gala dance week closes on April 29, the World Day of dance.
The International Dance Week Dresden is sponsored by the city of Dresden and the Cultural Foundation of Saxony and place with the support of numerous other bodies, institutes, foundations and others instead. It is organized with the German Theatre Association and the Czech Centre Dresden in collaboration with the Palucca School.
