Tarak Dhiab

Tarak Dhiab ( born July 15, 1954) is a former Tunisian football player, coach and current Minister of Youth and Sports.

Career

Dhiab is considered one of the greatest footballers in Africa. The midfielder was praised for his game intelligence, he is considered one of the best playmakers in Africa of all time.

In 1977, he was - voted Africa's Player of the year - so far the only player of his country. In the same year the Tunisian national team for the first time after qualifying for a World Cup. In the 1978 World Cup, the team failed him as a playmaker with only one defeat against Poland just behind Germany. He played all three matches.

The mid 1980s moved in his home country only for Espérance Sportive de Tunis, with whom he celebrated several league titles and cup wins, active to Saudi Arabia to Al -Ahli, where he was voted the best player.

After he had already announced his retirement from the national team, he returned in 1987 back again and managed to qualify for the Olympic Games 1988. 1990 he took his leave after a 1-1 draw against England final of the national selection.

In 1992, he finished in a friendly match against Juventus his career at his hometown club Espérance Sportive. Since then, he is active in the Tunisian Association and as a football expert at Al -Jazeera.

After the revolution in his home country on 14 January 2011, Tarak Dhiab is after the first democratic elections in October 2011 in the government of Hamadi Jebali Ministry of Youth and Sports.
