Targuist

Targuist is a city in northern Morocco, located in the province of Al Hoceïma.

The place was in 1926 briefly cited by Emir Abd el-Krim Riffs as the headquarters of the administration of the Rif Republic, as the former capital Axdir had been taken by a combined Franco - Spanish army led by Marshal Philippe Pétain, until the surrender of the troops Abd el-Krim on 26 May 1926.
