Tarita Teriipaia

Tarita Tumi Teriipaia ( born December 29, 1941 in Bora Bora, French Polynesia) is a Polynesian dancer who her performance in the film Mutiny on the Bounty (1962 ) owes its reputation, in which she played the role of Maimiti. Teriipaia is also the mother of two children of Marlon Brando.

Life

Tarita Teriipaia grew up with five siblings. Her parents were fishermen; the family had next to Polynesian and Chinese roots. Teriipaia was discovered by a rotating team of MGM, which was staying since the end of 1960 in Tahiti, there to turn the exterior shots for the film Mutiny on the Bounty. Teriipaia worked at this time as a dishwasher and dancer in a restaurant and was chosen for the role because she danced beautifully, was very nice and exactly the type of voluptuous - innocent South Seas beauty corresponded to that envisioned the producers. The role was acting extremely undemanding, so Teriipaias inexperience caused no problems in front of the camera. She received from the MGM a customary long-term studio contract and was later announced to the audience as " primitives " who have never worn shoes in their life. After completion of filming of Mutiny on the Bounty, they got no further roles more - Brando should have ensured.

Marlon Brando, who in the film played the role of Fletcher Christian and was a notorious womanizer, took it upon himself to look after Teriipaia personally during filming, and started with her soon have a love affair that - lasted until the end of his life - with many interruptions. On 30 May 1963, son Teihotu was born on 20 February 1970, a daughter of Tarita Zumi Cheyenne, but both gave Brando only on February 12, 1973 his name. Since the birth of Teihotu Teriipaia lived mostly on a beach property in Papeete, the Brando has acquired at this time for them.
