Tarmo Teder

Tarmo Teder ( born April 18, 1958 in Kuressaare ) is an Estonian writer, literary and film critic.

Life and work

Tarmo Teder worked in Tartu and Tallinn as a laborer, heater and loaders. He studied from 1973 to 1976 at the Tallinn Polytechnic. From 1976 to 1978 he attended night school in Kingissepa (now Kuressaare ) on the island of Saaremaa.

After regaining independence Estonia Teder worked as a cultural journalist and writer. 1994/95 was Teder culture editor at the Estonian newspaper Rahva Hääl. From 1995 to 1998 he worked at Eesti Päevaleht and since 1998 in the newspaper culture Sirp. Since 1996 he is member of the Estonian Writers' Union.

For his short story Viimase idealistic pildid (2004) Teder received the prestigious Friedebert - Tuglas price.
