Tashi Dor

Tashi Dor is a peninsula in Nam Co, a salt lake in Tibet Autonomous Region of the People's Republic of China. The area around Tashi Dor was declared a National Park.

On the peninsula there is a small Nyingmapa Monastery, which is built around a cave around and hiding a multitude of prayer flags behind two huge red rock. Hermitages, small cave temple, Yak skulls with inscriptions, Mani walls and a nunnery, are also to be found on the peninsula. Nomadic herders often take their bearings on Tashi Dor. There is an impressive variety of birds. Between April and November, flocks of migratory birds can be observed. In particular, the black-necked crane, symbol bird of Ladakh can be easily observed here.
