Tašmajdan Park

The Tašmajdan Park (Serbian Ташмајдански парк / Tašmajdanski park ), is common in the Tašmajdan or only TAS, is a public park and a residential area in Belgrade Palilula district.

Location

The Tašmajdan starts 600 meters south-east of Belgrade Terazije Square. It occupies the extreme southwest corner of the district Palilula, bordering the districts of Vračar the south and Stari Grad in the West. The park covers an area bounded by the streets Takovska in the northwest and the northeast and Ilija Garašanina Beogradska in the southeast and the Ulica Kralja Aleksandra.

History

During the siege of Belgrade in autumn 1806 Karađorđe hit here on a camp and established a tent. After the Second Serbian Uprising Miloš Obrenović decreed 1826 the relocation of the old Serbian cemetery from the city gate to Tašmajdan to build a Serbian urban area in Savamala can. On the plateau Tašmajdan the old St. Mark's Church was built in 1835 ( destroyed in the bombing of Belgrade on April 6, 1941). On the Tašmajdan the hatischerif ( decree) of the Sultan over the inner independence of Serbia was read on 30 November 1830. In 1909, we established a seismological station, which is also now here nor there.

Attractions

In Tašmajdan and in its vicinity are St. Mark's Church (the new, built from 1931 to 1936 ), the Russian Church (1924 ), the General Post Office (1934 ), a sports and leisure center " Tašmajdan " hotels "TAS " and " Metropol Palace ", the Café " Madera ", the RTS building ( radio and Television of Serbia ) and a children's amusement park.

Sports facilities

Within the Tašmajdans there are a number of sports venues in Tašmajdan Sports Centre ( Sportski rekreativni centar ). This includes a swimming pool with indoor and outdoor pools and bleachers for 2,000 spectators, a diving tower with spring boards of 1, 3, 5 and 10 m and 16 underwater windows for underwater filming. In the swimming pool at the sports center, the first world championship in water polo and diving was held in 1973, in 2009, some competitions in the Summer Universiade. Except for a non-swimmer course, there is also a school for synchronized swimming, water polo and diving.

The open-air stadium Tašmajdan offers stands for 5000 spectators place. It is intended for indoor football, basketball, fencing and volleyball. The leisure center has aerobics, fitness, massage, bodybuilding, and gymnastics programs, sauna and solarium on offer. For sports and leisure center including the Hala Pionir and Ledena dvorana Pionir.
