Tasman (layout engine)

Tasman is the name of an HTML rendering engine from Microsoft and was first introduced with the Macintosh version of Internet Explorer 5. Tasman should support created by the World Wide Web Consortium web standards better than the Trident engine used previously. At the time of publication was Tasman as the engine with the best support for web standards such as HTML and CSS. The development of Internet Explorer for Mac has now been set, but newer versions of the Tasman engine are still used in several Microsoft products, including, inter alia in Microsoft Office 2004/2008 or MSN for Mac OS X.

The Tasman engine was developed under the direction of Tantek Çelik.
