Tathlina Lake

Tathlina Lake is a 573 km ² large shallow lake 60 km southwest of Great Slave Lake in the Northwest Territories of Canada.

The Kakisa River flows from the west into the lake and leaves him north to the neighboring Kakisa Lake and on to the Mackenzie River. Another tributary is the Cameron River, which flows the area south of the lake drained and on the eastern south shore into the lake.

This turbid lake is the fifteenth largest lake in the Northwest Territories. It lies at an altitude of 269 m and has an average depth of only 1 m. Because of its low water depth, the lake on strong fluctuations in water level, water temperature, ice thickness, and dissolved oxygen. These environmental changes have already led to a fish kill.

Commercial fishing of glass eyes bass was started in 1953. However, it came in the 1960s to the 1990s, to very low catch results. In 2000, commercial fishing has been set on the lake.
