Tatsuo Yoshida

Tatsuo Yoshida (Japanese吉田 竜 夫, Tatsuo Yoshida, born March 6, 1932 in Kyoto, † 5 September 1977) was a Japanese manga artist, author of numerous anime and founder of the animation studio Tatsunoko Production.

Yoshida grew up during the Second World War. In 1945 he began working for newspapers such as Kyoto Shimbun as an illustrator.

In 1955 he moved to the comic trade and published with Tetsuwan Rikiya (鉄 腕力 也), story by Ikki Kajiwara his first manga. From 1961 to 1962, he brought the manga series pilot A (パイロットA) out in five books published by Shōnen Gaho.

In October 1962, he founded with his brothers Kenji and Toyohiro the studio Tatsunoko Production. Many of his comics and stories he sat then to an anime television series; Yoshida was involved in almost every production of the studio, including Speed ​​Racer (1967-1968), Gatchaman (1972-1974), Adventure on Rainbow Pond (1973) and Shinzō Ningen Casshern ( 1973-1974 ). Some animes he drew comics again; for the manga to Konchu Monogatari Minashigo Hutch, he won the 1972 Shogakukan Manga Award.

In 1977 he died at the age of 45 years at a hepatocellular carcinoma.
