Tavares ( also known as The Tavares Brothers) is a successful disco, R & B and soul band from the USA.

  • Pooch - Arthur Paul Tavares ( 12 November 1943)
  • Chubby - Antone Lee Tavares ( * June 2, 1945 )
  • Butch - Feliciano Tavares ( * May 18, 1948 )
  • Tiny - Perry Lee Tavares ( * October 23, 1949 )

History

Originally Tavares originate from the Cape Verde Islands. Under the name Chubby and the Turnpikes the brothers played in 1963 for the first time. 10 years later, in 1973, she signed a recording contract with Capitol Records and had with " Check It Out " their first hit. John Tavares, another brother, was eliminated after the first album the group constantly presented in the charts. 1975 was the most successful year for Tavares, the album "In the City" reached the Top 40 of the U.S. pop charts, the single, " It Only Takes a Minute" reached number 10 in the singles pop charts and # 1 on the R & B charts. "Heaven Must Be Missing an Angel" (1976 ) was a million-seller and her first big international hit (such as number 4 in the UK, number 38 in Germany ). "Do not Take Away The Music" (1976 ), " Whodunit " (1977) and "The Ghost of Love" (1977 ) were more successful hits of the group that presented themselves in the typical disco sound.

So Tavares controlled then a hit to one of the most successful albums of all time, the soundtrack to Saturday Night Fever, at. Your version of the Bee Gees hit " More Than a Woman" reached number 40 of the U.S. pop charts and number 7 in the UK and the Group received their only Grammy.

Later albums were not very successful, even the change from Capitol to RCA did not change this.

1983 Ralph Tavares left the group in the 1990s, Perry Tavares, but the remaining three brothers still occur on.
