Taynuilt

Taynuilt is a small village in the Scottish unitary authority Argyll and Bute. It is located in the north of the sparsely populated region, about 14 kilometers east of Oban and 44 kilometers south west of Fort William, near the shore of the sea arm Loch Etive. In the year 1991 615 inhabitants were counted in Taynuilt. His positive population development in the 20th century of the town is tourism and the establishment of the nearby hydroelectric power station.

Traffic

The village is located just off the A85 which connects with Oban Perth. The B845 leads from a pier on the north by the town of Loch Awe in the south. Since the 19th century Taynuilt has its own train station. This is today served by the West Highland Line between Glasgow and Oban.

In the vicinity of Taynuilt is a monument of the highest Scottish monument category A. In this case, is to the facilities of the former Bonawe ironworks that was built in the 1750s and has contributed much to the development of Taynuilt.
