Tchintoulous

Tintellust ( official spelling: Tchintouloust, also: Tchintoulous, Tintelloust, Tin Telloust ) is a settlement in the high mountains Aïr in Niger.

Tintellust lies in a valley between the mountains Agueraguer (1730 m ) in the north and Goundaï ( 1768 m) in the south. The village belongs to the municipality of Iférouane and a UNESCO World Heritage Nature Reserve Aïr and Ténéré. It has 736 inhabitants ( 2001 census). The population consists mainly of Kel- Owey - Tuareg, operate the horticulture and animal husbandry. Tintellust was in the 19th century known as the seat of the influential local ruler Annur, which the explorer Heinrich Barth and James Richardson visited in 1850. Early 20th century, sold Tubu residents in the city of Agadez. They returned only in 1942, now decimated by diseases, back to the valley.
