The TeeGschwendner GmbH is a German trading company for tea based in Meckenheim. The franchises are connected around 125 shops in Germany under the name " TeeGschwendner ". In the system headquarters in Meckenheim, the company employs approximately 140 employees in the owner-operated stores about 1,100 employees. The company is considered the largest tea specialty stores in Germany. Focus of the company is trading with loose leaf teas.

History

The first tea shop was opened in 1976 under the name " The tea room " of the then 22 -year-old Albert Gschwendner together with his wife Gwendalina in Trier. The business idea came about because there were no good shopping for tea time. 1977 followed the second tea shop in Bonn, In 1978 together with his brother Karl, the establishment of the " The tea room Gebr Gschwendner GmbH".

With its entry into franchising in 1982, the nationwide expansion began, it was followed by other shops in Austria, Switzerland and Luxembourg. 1985 included the Group 25 franchises and three shops on their own. In 1993 there were already 65 franchise stores, the seat of the headquarters was moved from Bornheim in new premises to Meckenheim.

1999 saw the new brand identity under the motto " actions and drinking tea " for further growth, flagship stores have been implemented in the top locations in Frankfurt and Hamburg. An online store in 2001 was launched to reach out to people who did not live near the now 80 shops. To avoid confusion with other providers, the name " The tea room " in " TeeGschwendner " has been changed.

2004 - 2005 shop concept has been adapted to various City - concepts; it was followed by an Internet relaunch as well as the award for " Franchisor of the Year 2005 " by the business magazine Impulse and the German Franchise Association. In addition TeeGschwendner received in the same year an award for the best franchise system of F & C Partner Satisfaction Survey 2005. 2005 summed up the company on the international markets feet and opened tea shops in the United States, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and Brazil.

Since 2007, in cooperation with the Chamber of Commerce Bonn / Rhein-Sieg mbH offers the TeeGschwendner Academy at the training provision for TeeSommelier. 2009 reached TeeGschwender in the "World Tea Championship" in Las Vegas with two teas 1st place: The # 988 Pineapple Mango and Earl Grey No. # 922. 69 were winners in their category. In the same year the company was awarded by the Institute for Franchise and Cooperation with the Golden Award as an especially good corporate network. The award paid tribute to an exceptionally high quality of the relationship between franchisor headquarters and franchise partners.

In July 2010, the company founder Albert Gschwendner died at the age of 56 years. The company has since been continued in his sense of the Managing Director Thomas Wood.

2011 developed the Philips Germany GmbH in cooperation with TeeGschwendner the " tea maker Philips HD7310 " - a new coffeemaker, kettle and teapot is in and which is adjustable by pressing a button. Range

In the core range, the customer has around 350 varieties to choose from. These include classic black tea and green tea varieties, white tea, rooibos and Honeybushtees, as well as a wide range of flavored tea creations, fruit teas and herbal teas, mainly of organic origin.

TeeGschwendner is involved in several projects, especially for the environment and nature in the tea - growing areas:

Nepal project Together with the German Society for International Cooperation ( GIZ) and Gorkha Tea Estate supports TeeGschwendner 200 peasant families of Shree Sunderpani Cooperative in Teedistrikt Ilam in Nepal. A new tea factory processed since 2009, the tea leaves of micro-enterprises.
