Teatro Comunale (Ferrara)

The Teatro Comunale is an opera house in Ferrara, Emilia -Romagna, Italy.

The building was designed by the architect Cosimo Morelli and Antonio Foschini and built in the years 1786-1797. The Teatro Comunale was opened on September 2, 1798 with a performance of Domenico Cimarosa's opera Gli Orazi ei Curiazi and has 990 seats. In March 1812 it hosted the premiere of Cyrus in Babylonia (OT: Ciro in Babilonia, ossia La caduta di Baldassare ), an early work by Gioachino Rossini, instead.
