Teatro Maria Matos

The Teatro Municipal Maria Matos is one of two municipal theaters in the Portuguese capital Lisbon.

It was built in 1963-1969, designed by Aníbal Barros de Fonseca in the borough Alvalade on Avenida Frei Miguel Contreiras and opened on 22 October 1969. It offers 582 spectators.

First artistic director was Igrejas Caeiro. Initially, the stage was recorded by various theater companies. Since the acquisition by the city of Lisbon in 1982, the house has its own ensemble. The artistic direction since October 2008, when Mark Deputter.
