Teddy Leighton

John Edward Leighton ( born March 26, 1865 in Nottingham, † April 15, 1944 ) was an English footballer.

Leighton was already in his early youth with the popular " Association Football " in contact and played in Nottingham students and junior selections. In 1884, the lightweight and strong dribbling winger joined in his home town of the renowned Nottingham Forest and remained there four years. On March 13, 1886 Leighton completed his only game for the England national team against Ireland and won as a left winger this section of the British Home Championship in Belfast 6-1. In addition to his assignments with Forest is operated Leighton, the main occupation was involved in the stationery and paper trade, 1885-1889 nor for the amateur club Corinthian FC.

After the end of the active football career Leighton Forest remained as a trailer, visited for the rest of life the home games of "his" club and died in 1944 during a meeting at the City Ground.
