Telford's shrew

The Telford - shrew ( Crocidura telfordi ) is a shrew from the kind of white tooth shrew ( Crocidura ). It occurs in Tanzania in the Uluguru Mountains and in the Udzungwa Mountains. The species name refers to Dr. Sam Telford, both of these types, as well as the Tanzania - shrew ( Crocidura tansaniana ) has discovered.

Features

The Telford Shrew belongs to the species complex of Kilimanjaro Shrew ( Crocidura monax ), which consists of twelve other African species. She is a big robust shrew ( the largest within the Crocidura monax - species complex) with a broad flat skull and a small third molar (M3). The coat has a dark brown color. The head-body length of the holotype is 107 mm, tail length 90 mm, the Hinterfußlänge 19 mm, the ear length 11 mm and the approximate weight 18 g
