Ten Sing

Ten Sing (own spelling TEN SING ) is a form of musical and cultural- creative Christian youth work within the YMCA, who originally hails from Norway and is now represented by groups in Europe, the USA, South America and the Philippines. In Germany the work currently includes (as of 2007) about 120 to 150 groups with about 5,000 active young people.

History

The Norwegian minister Kjell Gronner sought in 1966, which he felt was worst of the church youth work in Norway, according to new ideas. One day he got a call from an elderly lady who told him that God would send Gronner to Germany. She paid for the flight and the priest immediately went on the trip.

In Hamburg, he experienced a youth show of Sing -Out 66 which impressed him deeply. He wanted to establish this project in Norway and invited Sing Out Germany to Norway.

In 1968 Gronner founded inspired by the then German Sing -out movement in Bergen, the first Ten Sing group. This was originally a youth choir interpreted contemporary music. Part of the meeting was next to the Christian proclamation.

Concept

Ten Sing was meant to start as a new missionary oriented youth work.
