Teodora Matejko

Teodora Matejko was born Giebułtowska (* 1846, † August 25, 1896 in Kraków ) was the wife of the Polish painter Jan Matejko and daughter of Antoni Giebułtowski and Paulina Sikorska.

On November 21, 1864, she married the Polish painter Jan Matejko. After her marriage she moved to Kraków, where she had him five children, Tadeusz, Helena, Beata, Jerzy and Regina born, of whom the youngest daughter died shortly after birth. Soon after the marriage fell ill Matejkowa diabetes and in the later years of mental disorders. She stood by her husband often model for paintings, mostly as Bona Sforza, or Barbara Radziwill.
