Téoulier

Téoulier or Téoulier Noir is a red grape that is grown in the region of Provence in southeastern France. There she is, for example, still allowed although barely grown in the appellation range. Today, the variety is almost entirely disappeared; official surveys in 1988 showed a population of 0.8 hectares.

The late-ripening variety drives out very early and is therefore vulnerable during spring frosts. If the income is severely limited, the variety produces deep dark wines that enhance the color in blends. Therefore, it was often as a dyer grape (French: Teinturier ) used. Téoulier is a variety of the noble vine (Vitis vinifera ). It has hermaphrodite flowers and is thus self- fruiting. When the wine-growing economic disadvantage is avoided, no return delivered to have male plants grow.

There is also a white variety called Téoulier Blanc.
