Teresina Metro

Metrô de Teresina is operated by the railway company CMTP. It currently consists of eight stations and has a route length of 13.5 kilometers. There are transported per day approximately 12,000 passengers.

History

Metrô de Teresina was founded in 1989 with the aim to modernize the transport of the city and to create a transport system with high capacity.

The end of 1989 began with the construction. In order to reduce construction costs, existing crossovers were used, which were part of the route network of the formerly state-owned railway RFFSA. The line of Metrô de Teresina was in November 1990.

In March 2008 it was announced that the operation of the Metro is transferred to the state company Companhia Brasileira de Trens Urbano.
