Terminal (electronics)

A clamp is used in electrical engineering for releasably connecting or connecting wires, wires and cables. In the clamped state a permanent, secure contact must be guaranteed. This is achieved by means of mechanical fixing ( screw or spring ) of the connected conductor in a conductive body. There also exist a screw-on cable connectors. Reconnect and Disconnect are derived words that denote the connecting or disconnecting a device from the power supply that comes into existence without connectors.

Types of terminals

  • Ground terminal ( PE terminals ) at the same time provide a connection to the mounting rail and serve the connection of protective conductors
  • Bridge terminal: several electrically interconnected terminals
  • Lift terminals have a fixed position in the housing screw and a movable bracket ( " Elevator " ), which can be moved by the screw. For stranded wires can be clamped directly without end without the screw in the clamping process damaged the individual wires.
  • Terminal block: are arbitrarily aligned to secure them together on a mounting rail (for example DIN rail TS35 " rail " ) Disconnect terminal: Special forms of terminal blocks for manual separation of circuits.
  • Bus Terminal, advanced Modular terminals with electronic control
