Terre des hommes
The developmental children's charity Terre des Hommes (French for " earth of humanity" ) was founded in 1960 by Swiss journalist Edmond Kaiser in Lausanne ( Switzerland ). The name was inspired by the book by Antoine de Saint- Exupéry. The establishment was under the impression of the Algerian war, and under the first aid program therefore Algerian children were cared for in refugee camps.
Under the name of terre des hommes exist several legally independent and autonomous organizations that work together under the umbrella of the International Federation Terre des Hommes ( IFTDH ). All are active in the international children's and development cooperation. They fight against malnutrition, child labor, child trafficking, child prostitution, abuse of child soldiers, discrimination and injustices in world trade and are committed to children's rights. TDHIF
