At twelve, Terry Reid was a singer in a school band called The Redbeats. At 15, he was discovered by Peter Jay and took him as a singer with his Jaywalkers on a short UK tour. Then they went into the studio for song recordings. The single, however, was a failure and the Jaywalkers dissolved.

As label mates John Paul Jones and Jimmy Page shortly after asking if he wanted to be a singer of her band, he declined due to planned tours. He played as a solo musician in the opening act of the successful U.S. tour by the Rolling Stones. However, he recommended them to his place, John Bonham and Robert Plant. The four musicians were as Led Zeppelin one of the most successful rock bands of all time. Reid struck in the same year from a call to join for Rod Evans in Deep Purple.

Meanwhile, Reid had completed his second album. Mickie Most mixed it off on his own terms, with which Reid was not in agreement. It came to a rift, but because of the existing contract, he could no musts from posting further albums. Trying to deal with a change in citizenship the contract, must thwarted by preventing through his influence that another label took him. So Reid had to wait until 1973 before he could release his third album River. Although it received good reviews, it came in the U.S. charts not go beyond the rankings of the two predecessors.

In the coming years, Terry Reid worked as a studio musician, among other things for the country musician Bonnie Raitt and Hoyt Axton. In 1976 he again took himself on an album titled Seed of memory. Producer was Graham Nash. The album sounded more like Nash as after the early Reid and was a flop. Also the subsequent Rogue Waves could not awaken new interest despite rockigerer sounds. Then appeared at long intervals three more albums, all of which were out of the charts.
