Terry Ryan (writer)

Terry Ryan ( * July 14, 1946 in Defiance, Ohio, † 16 May, 2007 San Francisco, California ) was an American author.

Life

Terry Ryan was born in July 1946, the sixth of ten children of her parents Kelly and Evelyn Ryan in Ohio. The most of her life she spent in San Francisco. Her biggest success was achieved by Ryan with the release of her autobiography, The Prize Winner of Defiance, Ohio. In the book, she describes her life and that of her family, especially her mother, a housewife in the 1950s who took care of the family while her husband ever got drunk. On Valentine's Day of 2004, Ryan married her longtime girlfriend Patricia Holt. Shortly thereafter she published under the name We Do! a book about her wedding. In 2005, her autobiography with Julianne Moore as Evelyn Ryan and Ellary Porterfield was filmed as a youthful Terry Ryan. She died in May 2007 from cancer.
