Terson syndrome
As Terson syndrome vitreous haemorrhage is referred to in subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH ). It occurs in approximately 14-45 % of those affected. The risk of dying in a subarachnoid hemorrhage is when there is a Terson syndrome significantly increased ( odds ratio 4.8 ).
In the absence of hemorrhage Spontanresorption a vitrectomy may be necessary.
The Terson syndrome was first described in 1881 by Moritz Litten, but is named after the French ophthalmologist Albert Terson.
