Tertius of Iconium

Tertius of Iconium is one of the seventy disciples of the wider circle of the apostles in early Christianity. According to Greek tradition, he is regarded as an apostle except as bishop and martyr. He is to be followed the holy Sosipater as the second bishop of the Asia Minor city Iconium.

Tertius of Iconium is equated by the same Greek tradition with the Tertius mentioned in the New Testament book of Romans, the (Rom 16,22 EU) as a writer of this letter sends greetings from Corinth to Rome. This equation has been disputed by the Catholic Bollandists.

Shown is Tertius of Iconium Paul together with other students in omophorion. The Orthodox Church venerates him as a saint on October 30 and 10 November.
