Tertius (sandbank)

Tertius or Tertiussand is a sandbar in the Heligoland Bight off the coast Dithmarschens. Previously Tertius was a high sand, but is frequently flooded for decades and therefore does not vegetation. The area is mapped as other Hochsände or flooded sandbanks any community and any county. Recent satellite images show no falling dry sand surface, as is typical for Hochsände but shallow sea area.

Tertius is located about 10 kilometers west of the seaside resort of Büsum in the Meldorfer bay and subject as the other unpaved Islands, Hochsände and sand banks on the west coast of Schleswig-Holstein a steady eastward migration. To the south is the island Trischen, in the northeast of the high sand Blauort.
