Tervel Pulev
Tervel Wenkow Pulew ( internationally known as the English spelling Tervel Venkov Pulev; Bulgarian Тервел Венков Пулев; born January 10, 1983 in Sofia) is a Bulgarian boxer. Pulew was silver medalist at the 2010 European Championships and the European Championships in 2011 and bronze medalist of the 2012 Olympic Games.
Tervel Pulews father is former Bulgarian heavyweight champion Wenko Pulew and his brother is the 2008 European champion in super heavyweight Kubrat Pulew.
Career
In Youth ( U17) and junior level ( U19) took Pulew part in World and European Championships, but did not win any medals. In 2001, he contested in the middleweight ( - 75kg) its first Bulgarian Championships and won the silver medal.
His first international championships contested Pulew 2005 at the World Championships, in which he, however, in the light heavyweight division ( - 81kg ) starting in the first fight against Olympic bronze medalists from 2004 and later bronze medalist of the World Championships Utkirbek Haydarov, Uzbekistan ( 30:15 ), was eliminated. The European Championships in 2006 were crowned with success for him not because he in the first fight against the eventual champions Artur Beterbijew, Russia ( 38:22 ) was eliminated.
2008 Pulew participated in the European Olympic qualification tournament in Pescara, however, came in the heavyweight ( 91kg - ) not starting on the second round also.
At the 2009 World Championships Pulew lost after a preliminary round victory over Abdul Walid, Afghanistan ( 17:1 ), his second fight against Osmay Acosta, Cuba ( 11:2 ). The following year he won his first international medal at the 2010 European Championships. Inter alia After victories in the quarterfinals over Stjepan Vugdelija, Croatia ( 5:3 ), and in the semifinals on Darmos József, Hungary ( AB 2 ), Pulew reached the final, which he, however, against Yegor Mechonzew, Russia ( 10:1), and thus lost the silver medal won.
In 2011 he was able to repeat this success, taking time in the final at Teymur Məmmədov, Azerbaijan (AB 3 ) failed. In the same year Pulew occurred also at the World Championships, but already retired in the second round to eventual champion Oleksandr Usyk, Ukraine ( AB 2 ), from.
In order to qualify for the 2012 Olympics, took Pulew 2012 at the European Olympic Qualification Tournament in Trabzon in part, that he could win. At the Olympic Games Pulew reached after victories in the second round on Wang Xuanxuan, China ( 10:7 ), and in the quarterfinals on Yamil Peralta, Argentina ( 13:10 ), the semi-finals, which he compared Oleksandr Usyk, Ukraine ( 21:5 ) lost and thus won the Olympic bronze medal.
