Tessiner Zeitung

The Ticino newspaper is the only German -language newspaper which is published in the Italian-speaking canton of Ticino.

History

The newspaper was founded in 1908 under the name of Southern Switzerland. The paper saw itself initially as an organ of German Swiss Ticino and threw the Ticinese " fremdeidgenössische attitude " before, which led to some resentment.

In the 1960s, the magazine was sold to the predecessor of today's operation publisher Rezzonico Editore in Locarno and renamed Ticino newspaper. In 2005, the publication of the newspaper three times a week to once a week, was always on Fridays, reduced. The weekly circulation is about 7,400 copies, had a turnover of just under two million Swiss francs.

The newspaper is published in two parts: the first is dedicated to the current events in Ticino and the Italian Border, the second provides an overview of cultural events and leisure tips. In spring, summer and fall there is ever a special edition with a focus on tourism.
