Testicular artery

The testicular artery (Latin for " testicular artery " ) is an artery in males that springs from both sides of the abdominal aorta abdominal aorta and supplies the testis, epididymis and initial portion of the vas deferens. The finish is done on both sides below ( in animals behind ) of the renal artery ( renal artery ) in the lumbar region. The homologous blood vessel in females is called ovarian artery ( ovarian artery).

The great distance between arteries origin and target organ lies in the embryonic fate of the testicles. This first develop beneath the kidney and migrate in most mammals during the fetal period in the scrotum. During this descent, the testis artery extended accordingly.

Course

From the origin of the artery it runs with the same vein ( vena testicular ) to the dorsal wall of the abdominal cavity in a Serosafalte ( plica vasculosa or mesorchium proximal ) to the internal inguinal ring. At the crossing of the ureter they are Rami ureterici from the latter. At the internal inguinal ring she exits through the inguinal canal from the abdominal cavity and forms with the other line structures of the testis the spermatic cord ( spermatic cord ). In the distal part of the spermatic cord it greatly knäuelt on what is referred to as tendrils convolute (see details in the spermatic cord ).

In the area of testis head dismisses the artery branches of the epididymis ( epididymal Rami ) and vas deferens ( ductus deferential Rami ). The artery itself pulls the epididymal border ( Margo epididymalis ) to the tail end ( extremitas caudata ) of the testis. Here she lashes out and runs in most mammals at the free edge ( Margo liber ) of the testicle back to the head end ( extremitas capitata ) of the testis.

From this terminal branch go from numerous branches that extend tortuous in the tunica albuginea of the testis. From here, draw branches centripetal in the testicles inside to the mediastinum testis, to beat there and pull back centrifugally outwards to terminate in the capillary networks around the seminiferous tubules.
